WHITE PLAINS, NY The Westchester County Board of Legislators approved bonding legislation for $8.8 million to finance the restoration of the Bathhouse Building at Rye Playland. The project is designed to preserve the 1928 Spanish Revival Style Bathhouse.

Could the bathhouse been restored by the private sector, saving taxpayers $8.8 million? In these difficult economic times it's important to think twice before spending millions of dollars of taxpayer dollars on some expenditures. The bathhouse is currently a vacant building. Could the county have accomplished their goal of preserving the building if the restoration would have been done by the private sector?
